Launch of the AZ breaker inserts for turning of aluminium alloys

September 08, 2008

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has recently developed and manufactured the AZ breaker inserts for turning of aluminium alloy. These will start to be sold by Mitsubishi Materials Tools Corporation (President: Osamu Takata, Headquarters: 1-6-1 Yokoami, Sumida-ku, Tokyo).
AZ breaker For machining of non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, chip control is difficult due to high malleability of the work piece. This can often result in chips becoming tangled on the machine or the tool body. Additionally, as the work piece is prone to welding, problems such as poor dimensional accuracies and turbid surface finishes can also occur. As such sharp cutting edge geometry is most suitable. The AZ breaker with its sharp cutting edge geometry offers high quality machining of parts and also dramatically increases machining efficiency.

Key features of the AZ breaker

1.
7º positive peripheral ground G class inserts:
The entire periphery of the inserts is finish ground to enable the optimum cutting edge positioning for high precision machining. Additionally, sharp cutting edges produce high quality surface finishes.
2.
Outstanding chip control:
The unique curved cutting edge and breaker geometry employed ensures effective chip flow control, preventing chips from tangling around the work piece or the machine tool.
3.
Wide selection:
25 different types including 55° and 33° rhombic inserts are available to cover a wide variety of machining applications.
4.
Versatile HTi10 grade:
Inserts are available in a non-coated carbide grade HTi10. This grade allows for effective usage on a wide range of aluminium turning applications.
